In my junior year, I was tasked with computing the adsorption capacity of silver on graphite under an argon atmosphere. More importantly, it taught me the importance of cooperation, and the value of making full use of campus resources.
Although I learned a lot from this experie元彼nce, I could not ignore the fact that I did not enjoy the projector feel very excited when the task was completed. I was forced to reexamine my interests. It was during this period of self-reflection that I happened to attend a lecture on piezoelectronics and nanogenerators by Professor Zhonglin Wang. The lecture, which highlighted applied physics rather than just theory,&n山药豆,包凡一美国研究生PS选编 宾大哥大等并录理工男,小池古诗bsp;was stimulating and inspired me to introduce myself to Professor Wang and apply for an internship on his research project. Luckily, I was accepted.
I spent the next two months of my summer vacation in the nanocenter. When I trail;got there, the project was nearly complete, but I was still able to review the whole research process. What impressed me the most in this internship was the extensive innovations that could be achieved with one principle. I was also able to contribute&n姜小淘bsp;to the project through an innovative idea. My specific addition was regarding how to produce antibacterial fabric. Others have tried such experiments before, mostly using silicon substrate coupled with silver particles and involving toxic stabilizers or reducing agents. My idea was to use zinc oxide as the substrate, since it is bio-safe and serves as a broad spectrum antibacterial material. The reduction of silver could be done using UV radiation and the generated hole on the surface of ZnO will react with silver ions and turn them into silver particles. I was thinking to immerse the substrate within a silver nitrate solution and somehow disperse the silver ions on the ZnOnano wire surface, then泰 reduce the ions to particles so that an antibacterial fabric could be made.
My experience in 黑衣人3;the nano center provided an excellent opportunity to further my understanding of science and technology. I formerly regarded theoretical study as the most prestigious aspect of research, but I have now realized the significance of technology and the tremendous effect it can have on the development of new techniques and&石田亚由美nbsp;novel devices. Scientists create new technologies, and technologies have maximum impact when industrialized or mass produced. It is here at the intersection of theory, practical knowledge, and innovation—where technology and research meet that I hope to devote myself. I am now convinced that my true passion lies in utilizing research and technology in improving people's lives. I hope to especially focus on creating tangible products that can be made available to a large market. In this way, my goal is entrepreneurial as well as academic.
In addition to my academic interests, I am also involved in numerous&猪柳麦满分nbsp;other activities. I&nb哈尔滨中心大街sp;enjoy many forms of outside recreation, especially&海宁皮革城nbsp;hiking, mountain-climbing, and tennis. Far more than simply sports, these activities serve as an avenu牲日子e for social communication. Through these pas香菇炒肉times, I have made a lot of friends from different backgrounds. I also enjoy helping others and actively look for opportunities to volunteer.
I am excited to be applying for admission into the Nanoscale Science and&nbs反常临产p;Engineering Center at Northwestern University. I am confident that my experiences as an undergraduate, coupled with my hardworking nature and desire to combine research and practice qualify me as an ideal candidate for Northwestern.
